Hot Lunch Program

How to register:

We are excited to share that our incredible Parent Support Group (PSG) is once again offering our Hot Lunch Program through Munchalunch!

4) Click the green “Order Lunch!” button to order and continue to the payment
option. Please only place an order if you are able to submit payment immediately. Alternate payment arrangements can be made by contacting Mr. Untereiner.

Breakfast Club & Lunch Program

Students who have missed breakfast or need a lunch supplement are welcome to enjoy a free breakfast or lunch. Doors open from 8:10 – 8:40 for breakfast.  Currently, these programs are supported by Khowutzun Forest Services and government grants. We are very grateful for this generous support and feel very blessed to have such valuable programs at Queen of Angels!

Uniform Dress Code

Students of Queen of Angels Catholic School should be dressed in a manner that always reflects pride in their school. Neatness in dress and grooming will reflect this pride and set a tone of serious commitment to a learning environment. Parental cooperation is necessary to maintain a uniform dress code. It is the parents’ and student’s responsibility to ensure that the uniform regulations are followed. Uniforms will be worn to school, in school, and leaving school year-round. Exceptions will be made for special occasions, some field trips, and at the discretion of administration. All items on the chart below are mandatory unless specified as optional. The *denotes formal uniform for concerts, class photos, etc.

PLEASE NOTE: There will be a 20% restocking fee if you are returning more than 3 items. Exchanges are acceptable (no restocking fee).

Hours are extended during August to accommodate uniform fittings.

If you are unable to make it to the Uniform Store during regular hours, Mrs. Milbury can accommodate your needs by calling her home phone 250-748-6397 between 10 am-5 pm Monday thru Friday.

School team hoodies (optional) – not to be worn during other classes.

Any shirts worn under the school shirt must be short-sleeved and plain white only. All uniform must be kept in good repair. Holes and tattered sleeves are not acceptable. Shirts are to be tucked in during class time and when students are inside the building. Girls are to leave their kilts unrolled and the hem should be a maximum of 1” above the knee. Please note that girls are to wear only school approved spandex short under their kilt or tunic. Basketball/gym shorts worn under the tunic or kilt are not acceptable.

Nail polish (including acrylic nails) or makeup are NOT permitted. Hair colour must be a natural shade, although coloured streaks will be allowed.   Hair accessories must be navy, white or neutral. Jewelry should be minimal and safe to wear.  Bracelets, necklaces, and watches are allowed.  Students can wear stud earrings only. The earrings must be small and navy, white, silver, or gold in colour. Only one earring allowed per ear. No other display of piercings is permitted. Tattoos are discouraged and must not be visible when wearing the school uniform.

UNIFORM REGULATIONS

To maintain a standard with the uniform and for the convenience of parents, the school operates a uniform store.  The school sweaters, vests, kilts, tunics, skorts, gym strip, girls’ pants, and golf shirts must be purchased from the school store.  All other items are also available in the school store.  Items purchased elsewhere must conform to the standard of the school uniform sold by the school. 

Students are required to wear only school approved P.E. strip for all extra-curricular games and practices.

UNIFORM INFRACTIONS

When a student is not in complete uniform their teacher will issue them a uniform infraction. This infraction is to be signed by you and returned to the teacher. After three uniform infractions, the student will be referred to the office for further follow-up.

NON-UNIFORM DAYS (CIVIES DAYS)

On occasion students will be allowed to wear non uniform clothing to school. Please ensure that on those days that students are dressed in clean, tidy and appropriate clothing.

Scholarships & Bursaries

Queen of Angels is fortunate to be able to offer several scholarships and bursaries. Please click on the links below for information on criteria.

GRADE TWELVE BURSARIES & SCHOLARSHIPS

Queen of Angels School Parent Auxiliary Bursary

This bursary is available to a grade 12 graduating student from a public or private school who has attended Queen of Angels Catholic School for a minimum of four (4) years.

Bursary Amount: 3 awards valued at $500 each.

Conditions:

Available to a graduating student from a public or private school who has attended Queen of Angels Catholic School for a minimum of four (4) years. A signed declaration indicating years applicant attended must accompany the application form (form available at Q of A school office or email and must be signed by Q of A admin staff)

Awarded to a graduating student who intends to further his/her education at any recognized university college, vocational or technical school.
The bursaries will be awarded based on academic achievement, community and school involvement. Please mention your involvement in the Q of A school community in your personal letter.
The bursaries are to be paid upon proof of acceptance at an accredited post-secondary institution.
The bursaries are to be used within 12 months of graduation. The Bursary Committee, upon receipt of a written request, will review an extension. This must be received by the committee chair by June 10 of the graduating year.
These bursaries will be presented at school awards ceremonies.

David McKinnon Memorial Bursary

The David McKinnon Memorial Bursary is available to a Grade 12 graduating student in the Cowichan Valley who have completed a minimum of 5 years at Queen of Angels Catholic School.

Bursary Amount: $500

Conditions:

  1. Available to a graduating Grade 12 Student in the Cowichan Valley, including public and private schools, who has completed a minimum of 5 Years at Queen of Angels Catholic School.
  2. The applicant must be proceeding to post-secondary education or training in the year following  graduation
  3. The bursary will be awarded to a student who will be pursuing an education in a business or accounting related field or a trade.
  4. The bursary is to be paid to the individual upon proof of enrolment at a recognized school or institute to further his/her education or training with the discretion of the principal and Mrs. Elizabeth McKinnon.
  5. The applicant should state his/her reason for pursuing the choice of career and how it relates to equipping him/her to be of service to the community.
  6. The funds will be held in trust and if the recipient has not used the bursary within one year of the award, an extension will be reviewed by the Principal of Queen of Angels School and Mrs. Elizabeth McKinnon upon receipt of request for a possible one year extension.

Robertha Honora Pascoe Memorial Bursary

This bursary is available to a Grade 12 graduating student in the Cowichan Valley who completed Grade 9 at Queen of Angels.

Bursary Amount: $500

  1. Available to a graduating Grade 12 student in the Cowichan Valley, including public and private schools, who completed Grade 9 at Queen of Angels School.
  2. The applicant must be proceeding to post-secondary education or training in the year following graduation.
  3. The bursary will be awarded to a student who is pursuing a career in literacy or visual arts.

NEW - Hancock-Bilinski Alumni Arts Bursary

Available to a Grade 12 Student graduating from a public or private school, who completed a minimum of 4 Years at Queen of Angels Catholic School.

Bursary Amount: 2 awards valued at $500 each.

Conditions:

  1. Available to a Grade 12 Student graduating from a public or private school, who completed a minimum of 4 Years at Queen of Angels Catholic School.
  2. The applicant must be proceeding to post-secondary education or training in the year following graduation.
  3. The bursary will be awarded to a student who is pursuing an education in the Fine Arts.
  4. The bursary is to be paid to the individual upon proof of enrolment at a recognized school or institute to further his/her education or training with the discretion of the Queen of Angels School Principal.

GRADE NINE BURSARIES & SCHOLARSHIPS

YS Poland Cup & Bursary

The Cup and Bursary will be given to a Grade 9 student who exemplifies excellence in the following characteristics: Academics, Hard Work (effort), Athletics, Performing Arts, & Citizenship.

While the above criteria are a guideline, a student who excels in most areas will not be excluded because he/she does not excel in all of the above.

Bursary Amount: $200


Conditions:

  1. The bursary will be for post-secondary education and will be forwarded to the recipient’s school of choice following graduation from grade 12.
  2. The large cup will be retained at the school and engraved with the recipient’s name and year of receipt. A small “keeper plaque” will be given to the recipient to keep.

Sharon Kocurek Memorial Bursary

This bursary is available to a Grade 9 student who has attended Queen of Angels for a minimum of 4 years and has highlighted his/her citizenship, ability to co-operate with others, and all round effort.

Bursary Amount: $400


Conditions:

  1. This bursary is available to a Grade 9 student who has attended Queen of Angels School for a minimum of four years and proven citizenship, the ability to co-operate with others and all round effort.
  2. To be received upon completion of Grade 12 to further his/her education or training in a recognized field.
  3. The bursary is to be paid to the individual upon proof of enrolment at a recognized school or institute to further his/her education or training with the discretion of the principal and attending staff of Queen of Angels School.
  4. The funds will be held in trust and if the recipient has not used the bursary within one year of the award, an extension will be reviewed by the Principal of Queen of Angels School upon receipt of request for a possible one year extension.

Ellen Hannon Memorial Bursary

The CSTA presents a Grade Nine student with Top Academic Achievement (The Ellen Hannon Memorial Award):

Bursary Amount: $500

Conditions:

This award, which comes with a monetary grant, is presented to the person who achieves the highest academic average for the entire school year in the core subjects of Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science and French.
